Hi Sandburg families, This is just a little update about what we have been doing for the past couple of weeks. We are looking forward to a great year at Sandburg. By Carine We are looking forward to see and hear what they did for their 20 hour project. This is the budgeting competition and the kids got to choose their partner. They had 40 guests and a budget of $600.

Hi Sandburg students and families,
I am so sorry that it's been a while since my last post. We have had so many fun activities at school such as Waterpalooza, sports starting up, and so much more. I can't believe the end of the first quarter is quickly approaching, but it's been a good start to the school year so far. One of the highlights in our classroom was having a professional blogger, Brittany Xavier and her husband come speak to us about photo editing, photo equipment, and running a business on a website. The students came up with the questions they wanted to know and Mrs. Brittany answered them. Please consider checking out the account Sandburg Spartans on Instagram to see more of the class photos of that day that she came to visit. Today we had a really good discussion using a Socratic Seminar strategy about the ethics of photoshop when it comes to editing faces on people. I am proud of my spartans that answered that they don't have any right to take a picture of anyone without permission and to use our tools only for good. Be proud of your student, because they know what is expected when it comes to these fun, but powerful tools. We are still learning PIXLR tools such as converting pictures to silhouettes and cleaning up pictures. Be sure to check out your students work on 8th grade Student Work! I can't wait to update you next time with more projects, discussions, and hopefully they will have a huge dent in their 31 day photo challenge! If you don't know what is, be sure to ask them what they decided to take a picture of for 31 days! |
